I was recently a panelist at the “Alternative Solutions to Unemployment” event organized by Mind to Mind Initiative Africa (www.mindtomindinitiative.org). The event was held at Terra Kulture, Victoria Island, Lagos State.

I was joined by some of my favorite business people such. Dr. Enase Okonedo (Dean of Lagos Business School), Dr. Tunde Fowler (Executive Chairman, FIRS), Pastor Ituah Ighodalo (Senior Pastor, Trinity House), Dr. Jumoke Oduwole (Senior Special Assistant to the President of Nigeria on Industry, Trade and Investment), Mr. Austen Olorunsola (Chairman, Energy Institute, Nigeria), Ms. Adaeze Ume (Segment Head, Youth Propositions, Diamond Bank Plc), Ms. Ezinne Uko (CEO, Contrail Stores Ltd.), and Ms. Kene Rapu (Creator, Slippers By Kene).

The audience was largely made up of young people in paid employment, currently running their own small businesses or serving out their NYSC year and issues relating to unemployment, entrepreneurship, business ideas and investment were addresses by the panelists. Business grants were also presented to beneficiaries who had earlier submitted their business plans for assessment.
